Is there a command I can use in this file to stop the update window from appearing on my character select screen? Actually, Is there any way I can stop that pesky update window from appearing in my characer select screen?

If you are refering to the "changes" then just go into the RELEASE directory and delete that file (changes.txt) - that will eliminate that window from popping up, but you would need to do it each patch.
