Community,
This is Smith8454, and I'm back from the dead. I just reactivated my account, downloaded the RGlauncher, and followed these instructions: https://www.redguides.com/community/resources/redguides-launcher.1255/. I then updated my redguide launcher and got an error message:" It looks like some EQ folders are locked. Please unload MQ2 from running Everquest by issuing /unloading commands in each client and restarting the updating process. If the problem persists, please close all active EQ folders.

What did;
1. Clicked MQ2 Folder
2. I did not see any Redguides folder in the directory: owner, app data, local, very vanilla, macroquest, Release.
3. Did not see MQ2.exe "as the video said.
4. The RG launcher is still indicating a reinstall of the program.
5. Closed the RG launcher till I can get help with this problem

Instead of flying "off the handle, like before, I decided to ask for help. (meds are working).
I want to get this going and play EQ again with a "crutch."

not to computer savy
not sure where redguide stuff went

requesting step-by-step instructions on a fix for this

Thanks in advance

Welcome back …

work it i just watched the matrix again GIF

Per the Launcher F.A.Q.

Q. I am having an issue with "locked" files?
A. This might be an issue with antivirus, file syncing, or anything else that may be scanning your files or "holding them hostage". It is suggested and recommended to whitelist your eq and mq folders.

Every time I have had this error it has been because I am clicking Update in the Very Vanilla tab of the RG launcher while I have MQ running already. Check your system tray (small program icons on right side of windows bar) for purple button with letters MQ. This must be closed in order to update.

Foolproof method would be to just restart the computer and try again, I’ve tried to diagnose the stupidest stuff which seem complicated yet magically get fixed on a restart.

Welcome back! I know that things seem a little disjointed when it comes to using this stuff, but I am sure you will get it figured out with the input from other members.

Patience is your friend.

Also, check out my link to tips when using MQ in my signature.
