For people who play on a live server with no special rules, Bristlebane, Cazic Thule, etc. Which one has a decently healthy population? Ive been enjoying my time on FV and Mischief, but im looking to see how the other side lives. I only plan on playing 1 group from lvl 1 up to at least NoS. I know the gearing will be a bit harder than on free trade servers but i think itll keep me more interested.

nice try daybreak police!

a lot of servers have pros and cons

there is always a balance between population and economy

the bottom of the bottom servers tend to get merged with other servers when merges happen - so your fun quiet server might end up getting busier

FV/mischief is pretty amazing for boxing just because you can trade loot which makes lvling a team together so much easier and fun --- but they're obviously very busy servers

What i really like about FV is that i was wandering around last night on some new toons i made killing around CR there were a handful of low level characters running around and forming groups there, was a nice touch. And the channels had people of a good level range all LFG.

EQResource tracks population if you want to take a gander (you can see some limited history) outside of the client. I would imagine most people live on their own server and don't bother comparing much.

I'm guessing they are likely roughly similar nowadays.

It won't keep you interested. It will just make you wonder why you wasted time making toons on a server with the original ruleset. Once you play FV you can never go back. Not really.

You'll find it viable to try any regular server and level up. The issue you'll probably have to deal with along the way is gearing up your team accordingly at different points, made much more difficult if you run FTP toons on your team.

Because quite a bit will be no trade/attuneable you'll find gearing up to that next "tier" might be harder than it was on FV/Mischief and therefore more of a time sink. Other than that you'll notice less people overall and the experience won't really change either.

Keep in mind the lower populated servers, if you can find one that has reliable enough krono exchanging going on. You can set up farm teams and generate krono easily enough. I had 8 toons (2+mercs, 2+mercs and 4 solo + mercs) farming vendor drops and attuneable gear and was able to make 4 million (the krono price at the time) decently fast to fund my toons on other servers a bit easier. (I found FV could be hit or miss depending on the angle you took and if the market was saturated)

When you go to log in the server screen shows you the population of the servers as far as high, low etc. so that is one way. This was a recent update so no need to go to eq resource any more.

Or if you have a paid account you can just make a new character and log into each one to see how the chat goes during your play times. The reason you want to do that with a paid account is so you can see general chat. Its not available on free accounts. But you would only need one paid account cause you can make characters with that one account for every server.

Servers other than FV will be a challenge because you cannot buy your friends, your armor, your level etc. You have to actually work at it. While I enjoyed my time over there and all the goodies after a while it got old and I returned to my original servers.

Whichever way you go, have fun!
