So, I'm quitting WoW... for the most part.

My guild has started enforcing stupid militaristic rules and has really bled some fun from the game, not to mention, all these posts you make keep making me play less. :-P

lawl. It's not really your fault, it's just fun to blame you.

My buddy and I made a bet today to see who could go the longest. Him without smoking or me without playing WoW. I already promised another friend I'd start playing Diablo 2 (never played before) and some Starcraft (havn't played in years) so I figured it'd be a good time to quit and see how it goes. Plus, I still need to finish Final Fantasy 12.

Anyways, suggest for me some good games to play. It seems like you hate everything on the market currently so suggest something good.

If you've never played diablo 2 at all you can easily keep yourself busy for a good 50 hours with that.

I've been playing a lot of BF2 since I quit WoW, and I threw in SC for the first time in about 2 years, although 2 years ago I maybe played a dozen games, and that was the first time since 2 years before that... Way back when though... like 7 years ago... I was seriously a stud in that game, like seriously 99th percentile type stuff... I tried playing it really really rusty just the other day and it was so sad, lol. Not to mention I even caved and played BGH instead of a real map just to get some quick games in. If I'm gonna get back into it I'll have to spend a few hours working out some opening build orders and stuff vs comps. Barely had a clue where to go anymore after 10 control, lol.

I'm an FPS nut, so I'll have to suggest FEAR. I think they came out with an expansion for it, too. I really need to get around to getting that. I'll add more as I think of them.

You could always play VG on the PvP server. Not that that's any better than playing WoW time wise. Stalker just came out and is getting pretty decent reviews on the FPS side of things. A friend of mine has been playing it and really likes it aside from it being a bit too short. Supreme Commander is soso if you like RTS. It's more on the strategic side of things though and less fast paced than a Starcraft or C&C/Dune type game. RPG wise I think there is an oblivion expansion coming out next week and Silverfall which I know a few people who are looking forward to it.

Umm... Console wise I haven't played much lately that interested me. Tried Virtua Fighter 5 on the PS3 it kinda sucked IMO but I am not that big into fighters. Bullet Witch was pretty damned lame on 360. I don't own a Wii yet so nothing on that front.

Mostly been playing VG the past week or so since a RL friend decided to give it a whirl so I made a new char and have been hanging with him. Hopefully I will find a new job in the next few weeks that will give me a bit more time for gaming... And hopefully pay me more as well : P

Why not try the RTS Warcrafts, I thought Warcraft 3 was a blast (1year playing that exclusively, online though:P) So if you haven't I'd give those a go.

WC2 and Starcraft were a blast. I didn't like WC3 as much probably because of the reliance on hero units. If you play on BNET these days it seems like everyone and their mother is playing DOTA (a little scripted RPG type map for WC3). DOTA is pretty amusing though I suck ass at it having played very little. Everyone in my old raiding guild used to play it like mad.

If you haven't run through System Shock 2 or Fallout 2 I would recommend picking those up. They are a bit dated but a lot of fun. Could probably find them for like 10$ if you looked.

If you aren't hardcore into PvP LOTRO might be kinda fun. It seemed a lot more "story" based than WoW from the little I played. If you preorder now you can play beta til release and at some point (I want to say March 30th) they will reset things and the characters you play in beta from that point will roll over into retail. Might be an easy way to pass time and it's a lot easier to not play like mad if you aren't raiding.

If we're going to be mentioning great classics like Fallout and System Shock, then I may as well chip in with Deus Ex, the Thief trilogy, Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 2.

ugh this has progressed to become even worse, i can barely log into WoW anymore before i log off and go play Diablo 2

Dear god, not memories about DOTA.

Haha the diablo 2 addiction is usually fairly short lived Mord so not to worry. Once you get a couple of characters to 80+ you realize how repetative and boring it really is.

Ged, the worst was when all the DOTA freaks discovered http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikDdNDt_S70 on the intarwebs and it was playing every 10 minutes during raids.

...

I found it repetative & boring once I got one character to 35.

"Congratulations; you've beat the game! Now, beat the game again, except we are going to give quillboars (yes, ef'ing quillboars) like a bajillion HP & give them higher resistance to your spells & we're going to strip resistance off you so you're at less than zero, just because we can. See if you can still beat the game now with no new enemies & no new talents! If you can, we'll do the same thing again!"

I didn't even make it past the first act.

Haha it's no more or less engaging playing diablo 2 on BNET than running the same WoW instance over and over again. You're basically doing the same thing. Running the same mobs over and over again hoping for a chance drop of something you want/need. If you play with the ladder people in Diablo 2 you tend to level up pretty quick. *shrug*
