Software GitKraken - recently missing icon (1 Viewer)

So this has been bugging me and I figured out how to fix it this morning:

This is what I did (assuming you have at least GitKraken v8.3.1):

1. close GitKraken
2. removed all GitKraken "pins" (start menu, task bar)
3. Opened PowerShell
   1. execute: Copy-Item -path "$env:USERPROFILE\AppData\Local\gitkraken\app-8.3.1" -Destination "$env:USERPROFILE\AppData\Local\gitkraken\app-8.2.1" -Recurse
4. launch GitKraken
5. create "pins" in your taskbar and start menu to replace

This is most likely a re-usable fix until GitKraken actually fixes their bad link of where to find the icon.

You can just right click on the taskbar icon and then right click the application -> properties -> change icon

I haven’t seen this with GitKraken but usually when icons break it’s because of explorer’s aggressive icon caching
