Question - hDex - hAgi - hStr (1 Viewer)

Hello all, question about my current stats and not sure what to do. My monk is currently at with "tribute on" hDex 4173, hAgi 4117 and hStr 3172. My plan is to try to get my strength up to 4100 level while keeping my agility and dex above 4000. Is this the right course for maximizing my dps? or should I don't worry about strength and raid my hDex more? Thank you.

Hdex all the way. Parsing all the other heroics nothing has as much impact as hdex. Its not even close, strength will do absolutely nothing for your parse and agility will help your strikethrough but not much on the parse.
For maximum benefit go heroic dexterity, then get some more heroic dexterity

Assuming your accuracy is maxed out (300/300), you're saying HSTR won't do anything for your parse?

Ive parsed both my main who is at 300 accuracy and alts who are below 300 and nothing has as much impact as hdex. Its not even close. Even allot of raid tanks are stacking hdex for these same reasons nowadays

The game is kinda broken at this point given the effects one herioc stat has over the other stats, in that its more beneficial in same cases by allot. (for dps)

the reason you stack it beyond that is crit rate.
a couple classes can reasonably cap it in some settings/with common buffs so they might do otherwise
iirc monk is not currently one of them

(Edit: I'm a parrot. Not a super monk dude, just what I've read from those who claim to be)

This question gets asked so much and the truth is that none of it matters in the slightest. Everquest gear choices are completely ineffectual in the modern game (max level/current xpac). Even if you don't specifically stack hDex, you're going to get a lot of hDex just from the gear available at max level. So as long as you're upgrading to the highest tier of gear available to you and getting the newest augs from every expansion, you'll be fine.

That said, general theory crafting says for melee characters to go for hDex until your crit rate is 100%. Currently, only Berserkers and Warriors will actually achieve 100% crit rate as they have a naturally higher base crit than all other melee classes. Rogues and Monks are still probably a few expansions away from being able to cap crit rate at 100%, at which point there will probably be another significant stagnation among melee players. As a zerk player in a raid guild, I choose to aim for 4000 hDex with full buffs, trophy, tribute, power source, etc running and then each subsequent upgrade after that should go to the 3 other melee centric stats (hSta, hStr, hAgi). I won't keep an old aug from 2 expansions back just because it has a few more hDex on it when I am giving up more overall stats from all four categories combined by upgrading to an aug from the current expansion.

Overall, though, if you're expecting big DPS gains by moving around a few stat points here and there, you're going to be dissappointed in modern Everquest. Any actual difference from this type of adjustment is going to be so minuscule that you will only notice it when analyzing 100+ hour long parses.

zerks warriors and rangers bowing are not subject to the 3/5 crit scaler.

All I know is that I have 2 toons with over 4K HDex. My BST has 4230 HDex (5963 Dex total) and my SK has just over 4K HDex (5761 Dex total). Neither are close to 100% crits so I am continuing to add the new HDex augs, at least for now.

My BST's crit rate varies a little by type of damage but the highest is 88.1% (going by a parse over the last day).

I may be doing it wrong, but I'm still loading HDex.

That said, my Ranger gets 99.5% crits with her bow. She only has 3868 HDex so far. So, it clearly varies by class (and by damage type)
