Do you still use this N52?
http://www.notaddicted.com/forums/showthread.php?t=740
If so: do you keep another keyboard around to type with, or are you just not the gossip-y type (no pun intended)?

I ask b/c I'm trying to upgrade my setup--I currently use standard keyboard & three-button mouse. This only gives me ~5-10 non-movement buttons that I can effectively use, so I just click the rest, which suited me fine...until arenas started. Now I just feel so slow sometimes, so I'm trying to become more like everyone else in hopes that my longer reaction times are not just genetic.

I really wanted to start using an N52 when I first heard about them like in 2003. Never got around to ordering one, and then about a year later, I finally saw one at Best Buy, and went to check it out, planning to take one home with me. Turned out it did not fit my hand at all :( I am like 6'6 and very broad shouldered. I'm a big, big dude. I can't use mice that are "ergonomic" either, cause my hand cramps to shit cause they're "ergonomic" for normal people, not me.

If you think you could use one comfortably, I'd say give it a shot. I have quite a few friends who use it and love it.

And generally you'd just have it off to the left side of your keyboard and still have the keyboard there. Or some people who have a keyboard tray use the n52 up top and keep the tray slid in til they need it or vice versa and put the n52 on the tray and leave the keyboard easily available up top.

the n52 is my crutch. i can't play without it.

it's adjustable Khatib, but only one setting... long or short... read the article Lesson25 linked above.

i've adjusted a few very minor things to my setup since writing that article (including raid icon hotkeys on the belkin itself... alt + a few number keys), and have switched to using my rogue as my main, but a lot of the basic setup still applies.

i still have the WASD in the center, and "1 thru =" spiraled around those, and still use the dpad for a modifier (ctrl, alt, etc), and my vent push to talk key.

i love the thing. i should order another now for when this one finally dies, because if they discontinued i'd be lost wihtout it.

i also have a logitech mx510 mouse that has like 5 buttons in addition to the right and left click. they're used for scrolling or whatever... i remapped them to be stuff like autorun, follow, mount, shadowstep, and premeditation.

it's really silly when i think that i can't even really use those buttons in any other application, because i've asigned ridiculous keystrokes to each button... stuff like 'autoscroll down' is now something retarded like Ctrl+Shift+[.

So, I went on a Best-Buy shopping spree Friday & bought myself a Belkin N52 and (ironically) a Logitect mx510, with the intention of trying both out & returning them if I didn't like it.

So far, I've been very satisfied with the mouse--those extra thumb buttons are so clutch! I haven't been using the hot-adjustable sensitivity, but a friend of mine says he has a similar mouse & he uses the feature all the time, so maybe w/ experience...

I can't say I've been as satisfied w/ the N52, however. The first thing that jumped out at me was that I was a movement-whore--I actively use six buttons for movement/screen turning (not including mouse, which I do too). This means I would either have to adjust my playstyle or limit myself to eight action buttons for my fingers (not including the green/blue/red shifts, which I have yet to figure out). Also, not having the physical access to A-Z to type without moving my hand is a bit of a nuisance. I'll give it some more playtime after WSG weekend is over, but so far, I'm not liking it.

I tried to get myself to use mine originally using the D pad for movement but unfortunately the way the thing is designed when it's set at the biggest setting it's too big for my hand and on the smallest my thumb doesn't feel right on the dpad. I was planning to remap it all to use the wasd movement on the thing similar to what ISO has but since I set up my desk to have 3 monitors/3 keyboards/3 mice I don't have room. Maybe if I got rid of my g15 keyboard and got a normal sized one or even better one without a num pad I would have more room. May think on it : P
