How unrecognized is the importance of keyboards - the main link between you and most games? There have been gaming video cards, gaming sound cards, gaming monitors, gaming mice, 3D gamer glasses, there has even been gamer mousepads.
But it took until 2003 for someone to make a gaming keyboard.
I just spilled a glass of water on my favorite keyboard which killed the weak little thing, and am in the market for a new one. Here are some things I'm considering:
N-Key-Rollover. In other words, how many keys you can input at once. During my early EQ days, I had a keyboard that only allowed 3 key rollover before it would start beeping at me, so I couldn't diagonal strafe + cast + jump at the same time.
You can test your keyboard's rollover here. Test using QWAS, then QWASED, and keep going down the row. Gamers should have at least 5-key rollover.
On-keyboard pointing device. I love nipples, being the only pointing device you can use while typing, but everyone has their own preference. Has anyone tried the little disc on the new logitech dinovo?
Programmable. The logitech G15 seems to be the leader here, but does it offer anything different from free macro programs like Autoit? Has anyone seen macros for wow or other games written for it? Anyone know of other programmable keyboards?
The feel. Some people prefer the old clicky keyboards, some people prefer the new quiet ones. I just want whatever is easiest on my fingers, but I don't know which one that is, especially since I haven't touched a clicky keyboard since before EQ's first expansion.
What the hell do you use?
