I own at least ten different accounts and over a dozen different Heroic characters. I played 10 years ago, but so much has changed in this game since then. Many of the fundamentals of playing in the field are similar, such as dotting, kiting, and healing. But, there is so much more to the game. I never played a tank class back then, and there was no such thing as a mercenary (at least nothing like the mercenaries in the game today).
REZZING FOIBLES:
I've wiped my entire 6 man team on a single blue character (lower level) several different times. The most embarrassing was when I wiped on the first wisp doing the J5 Merc Quest. My entire 6 man team died so many times that they all lost a level to 84. I eventually got them up past 85, but it was very discouraging to lose a level on an entire team. Some of their spells did not work anymore because they were level 85 spells. This wasn't all bad because I learned that I have to actually put a MEZZING spell in the lineup if I want my Enchanter to mezz. :-) I've spent hours at a time just figuring out how to rez them all (but now I have a necro and a cleric so it's simple). I also found the Guild Lobby, and that makes rezzing simple if I intend to move to another zone or give up for the day.
FACTION FOIBLES:
I was careful not to kill anything that looked like humans because I remembered how faction worked from when I played 10 yrs ago. However, I have done something wrong because my Heroic 85+ druid is now KOS (Kill on Sight) in the newbie zone. I zoned in and never saw what hit me. The next thing I knew, my druid was in the guild lobby, and I was buying a soul stone. I haven't figured out what I've done wrong, and I'm not sure where to look (except I know to use Google). The really puzzling thing is, my druid is a Drakkin, and I thought Crescent Reach was a Drakkin zone. So, I'm not sure what I did but whatever it was I must have done a lot of it.
MERCS ARE OP:
About a week ago, I started a fresh team of level one characters. I hand leveled each one of them (solo) up to level 10. Then, I began to three box them by hand to kill some low level bosses. I am learning the mechanics of each class. I have also discovered that I really do not need a bot if I simply use a merc and stay out of the way. :-) The new mercs are OP. Now, when I multibox, I always use a merc healer for off-tanking. She will draw all of the adds and hold them while I work on killing one mob at a time. I frantically tried to get the adds off of her at first, but then I noticed that she handles them quite well. Now, I just let her keep them all on her until I am ready to kill the next one.
