If you're not prepared to create your own compile, these details aren't of practical value. They are being shared to assist those who do compile for themselves.

As Mischief says, "offset" refers to a memory location. MQ performs much of its magic by replacing specific memory locations with eqgame.exe. Replacing these memory location is the real hack: you physically alter the memory footprint of eqgame.exe after it loads. Different offsets relate to different hacks.

Hate to say it, but if your next question is "How do I create my own compile?", "SEARCH IS YOUR FRIEND!" is the only reasonable answer.

Cool, thanks for the info. Posts without directions are confusing to us newbs...yet many people who have been around this stuff for a while (according to many of the posts I have read here) take it for granted that everyone should just know how to use the stuff or that a quick search of the forums will point them out to the info they are looking for.

Seriously, my search-fu sucks ass because I have been able to find, maybe, only 1 out of 3 things I am looking for in the forums. It's probably more a matter of inputting the right words to search for, but if you don't know the right keywords (because you're a newb) then I think people should cut you some slack and not raise the "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION LIKE THE REST OF US YOU STUPID PIECE OF SHIT!!!" flag.

I dunno...just my 2cp.

Anyway, thanks again for enlightening me on what this stuff is for. I'm getting the hang of macro writing...largely in part to the posts people make here. I appreciate everyone's help in expanding my knowledge. This shit is kinda fun.

The problem that "those of us who have been around for a while" have is that all the information that you need is stickied in the "Guides" forum...or if not stickied, then easily found there.

thez has it right. About 90% of the info newbs seek is stickied. If they would at least read those our forums would be half the size. When i first joined i wanted to just get it and kill the whole world. But much to my surprise it takes time. Take it slow, read alot, and dont try the "active hacks" till you get the basics. Unless you like seeing "banned" next to your account status

This is borked and has been for a while. I don't even think that back in 2005 it worked either. Maybe early 2005. It is 100% serverside. Have tried and the best you get is that clientside you appear to be unmoved, but serverside you are getting nailed by the mob.
