Problem - Raid formation fail using MQ2 (1 Viewer)

I currently have 5 accounts, so when I need to form a raid I would put all 5 in it, camp 1 out and load an alt from that account, add it to the raid, then camp it out and return to the main character for that account. This way I had 6 people in the group and could start the raid.

While using MQ2, the second I go to character select screen, that account is automatically dropped from the raid/group. This means I can't have more than 5 characters in a raid formation at any one time, no matter how much switching back and forth I do. I've also noticed that when I camp and go to character select screen, the macro I set up to select that instance of EQ stops working. My current theorized workaround (things to do this morning; will try it later tonight) will be to log all 5 accounts into EQ manually, set up the raid, request the instance, enter the instance, then camp all 5 to desktop and re-load using RedGuides like usual and proceed to gang (g)rape the Elemental Planes so I can finally cross that damn thing off my bucket list.

Now, is this just a fundamental part of MQ2 that is either an unwanted feature (for me) or an unanticipated side-effect? Or is there some setting that exists that I am admittedly unaware of that needs to be changed? I absolutely REEK of "FNG" using this; so far, the best "automation" I've managed is to setup macro hotkeys on my main character to broadcast to individuals or the group as a whole to engage and deal with mobs, and lemme tell ya, it's 10,000% more efficient than trying to ALT+TAB between 5 different windows, especially when you keep forgetting how many times you need to ALT+TAB to get to which one. For the hotkeys to switch to a particular EQ window alone, MQ2 would totally be worth it; maybe someday I'll learn how to script KA or RGMercs for my particular setups and be able to fully automate their behavior according to my OCD anal-retentive whims, but for now, I'm happy with baby steps.

So...am I missing something, or do I just have to handle raid setups differently?

Why not just /raidinvite bubba-joe from 1 char, then you have 2 in a raid, and can do/add whatever you want? Thats a EQ feature..

I'm, uh...doing that already. First part: "...when I need to form a raid I would put all 5 in it..." That means /raidinvite has already been used; that's how 5 toons end up in a raid to begin with. I fail to see how doing the exact same thing that highlighted the issue in the first place would somehow resolve it.

You need 6 toons in a raid format to get an instanced for most raid-flagged zones. You can't /raidinvite people that aren't online, and they're being automatically removed when I camp one out. So that means with 5 accounts, if using MQ2, I am forever 1 person short of being able to form a raid. Period. Using plain old EQ instances loaded from the Launcher, each toon in a group/raid persists even when camped out. They aren't automatically removed the second the connection is dropped. So that means it's something MQ2 is doing on its own, and I don't know why because I'm a friggin' greenhorn when it comes to MQ2...but an old hand when it comes to EQ1.

For example: I go to the Agent of Change at the PoFire entrance in PoTranquility. I'm in group of 5, do the hail, follow the prompts, but don't receive the instanced /dz. Trying to /say "Ready" merely returns a "Yeah, whatever; come back when you have a REASON to get in there!" response. So I drop group, ALT+R for raid window, start inviting. I have all 5 toons in, but it still won't let me in. Now the problem is that I need a minimum of 6 players; no mercenaries accepted. That's where I started doing the workaround by adding an alt that I would then log back out but leave on the roster, so I could request and run a raid with just my 5-box setup. I don't really want to purchase another Heroic 100 just to be able to do that with MQ2, though I definitely have the resources to run it; but it's waaaay overkill for such older zones.

An issue independent of MQ2 I'm having: when I do anything that involves a pop-up on another toon, ALT+TAB'ing or using my window selection hotkey (CTRL+ALT+(1-5)) causes that pop-up to close before I even get to it. I've had to get REAL creative trying to zip between windows before the server can process the request and send it to the other client. Is that because I'm playing in full screen across all 5 instances? Anyone know if it would still occur when windowed? It's annoying, but I can live with it if it means I don't have to readjust my UI across 5+ clients.

Dropping from a raid when your link dead I believe is an EQ thing.

Regarding Agents of change, you don't need a raid. You need the minimum amount for the instance. Create your group with the 4 you would use and the alt from the other account you would use. Camp out the alt and invite the main of that account. You now have a group of 6 with one toon faded out.

This has worked for me before I had 6 accounts (I only had 3 and would load multiple alts from one account).

Depending on the popup, you can use MQ to address it. If it is a yes/no prompt, you can /DGGA /YES (or /NO) if you have dannet loaded.

I play borderless fullscreen (maximized windowed), so I don't have your issue, but don't feel like click yes six times.

So I'm confusing the minimum requirement of 6 players for a raid requirement? Damn; that means I never had to form a raid in the first place?!

Sounds suspiciously plausible. I think that's how I did an LDoN raid mission one time, by just having 6 people in the group (with 1 camped out), then only entering with 2 to run it.

To clarify: I only need 6 toons to request ANY instanced zone, raid or otherwise, and don't actually have to drop group and re-form into a raid to do it? My God, that would make things so much easier. Please say it's so. 😆

Raids, some require 6+ (or a raid of 2), group instances can be gotten with 1 or 2...

You could also just ask in general for anyone sitting around to join your group for the 5 min or whatever it takes to request the raid. People do that all the time to get into all sorts of instances.

You just need to be grouped with 6 characters (offline or online) in the group. You only need to convert to the raid window if you want to take 7 or more characters.

For the most part yes. It also depends on how you get the instances.

Agents of Change just need a group, and you may be able to use mercenaries as you're not creating a "raid," but you do need to be Gold to enter. Mercenaries are barred from joining the "raid" container and places like Anguish, will dismiss your mercenaries.

If you create the instance from the old entrance, like using the stone of entry in GoD/OoW zones, it might need a created raid. The instance mechanic is old.

You have "such and such raid" which is just a name, Raid (Alt R), which is the container for more than one group and a Raid Instance which is an expedition with a maximum player count greater than 6. Not to mention a raid mob, so the word gets used a lot and can confused.

Generally newer expeditions (last 15 years or so) with a minimum less than 7 can be grouped if your past the era's level.

Circling back to recurring problems, I have 2 that are bugging me.

The first is regarding Yes/No dialog boxes: now that I set the auto rez accept to YES that particular problem has been resolved, but any other window requiring a yes/no, accept/reject, whatever is wiped the second I try to switch to that window. If that toon's window isn't the foreground when an option box pops up, it's gone before I even see it. Dunno how to resolve that, or if it even CAN be resolved. It was happening before I installed MQ2, so it's definitely an issue with the base game itself. Anyone have any ideas?

The second is more severe and is definitely an MQ2 problem. When I load a group of characters, sometimes they all load and play as intended; sometimes a few are black screens that, once I switch to them, I'm stuck and have to reboot the computer, because I can't ALT+TAB out and even CTRL+ALT+DEL won't get me out of it. ALT+TAB shows the Task Manager IS running, but I can't ALT+TAB to it in order to end the problem process. Same thing happens when, after loading a group of characters, I camp one out to the Character Select screen and re-enter the game (same account, different toon). It loads in Full Screen, but if I don't ALT+ENTER to switch it to Windowed Mode first, trying to ALT+TAB or hotkey to another character (that's in FS mode) results in a Black Screen of "Please Restart Your Computer Because U R Phuqued". This has caused me ENDLESS problems loading into the game, then realizing I have to camp one guy out to log back in on an alt Bard in order to pick a damn lock or two, or to get an instanced task; usually I have to camp everyone out the second the door is unlocked/task set, then load the Profile group again from scratch to make everything mesh again. I'm to the point where I'm seriously contemplating wasting money on yet ANOTHER Heroic 100 account so I can pick a few locks in Kunark era content because my OCD won't let me leave it be without getting those last few Progression (key) flags finished.
