(Starting over)
Hey humpmonkey, it's been a while, good to see you back, if you even remember me, probably not. Comming back to stay? Also, I might be able to answer your question if you PM it to me.
Yeah, I'm thinking of coming back. I'm still in my divorce, and am about to enter pre-trail of the final stage. That should happen at the end of this month. What does that have to do with anything? Well, my girlfriend said, "Sure, I'll check WoW out", and now she's quoting lines from the game to me, and in her sleep. I think that she's somewhat hooked on that WoW feeling.
I want to come back but I see now that they have paid transfers. This sucks because my connectivity and quality of service issues cannot be resolved with a free transfer to another pvp server (these are issues between Time Warner, their NOC's and Blizzard), and when I log into my spirestone account, I never get to see my toons anymore. They assure me that they're there, but I need to get off of that server on to at least a medium build server because I want a chance to get back into high end raiding again while teaching her how to play. When I left, We were alternating MC and ZF. Pardon me if I forget the acronyms.
Here is my issue...
I want to try and get a central US server/realm because West Coast connectivity to various Blizzard farms time out, or refuse to let me connect to my realm after login. I've deleted wtf and wtb (I think those are the folders), yet nothing helps. I can log into various other new realms, and get in instantly, but not some of the others I used to play. I don't care about losing a couple of lvl 30 toons. I just don't want to lose my 60 mage.
Any suggestions? I don't mind paying to move him from Spirestone, but need something with some decent pings. My question was going to be,
how can I ping or trace the various realms to see who I can get a better connection to? I used to do this for EQ, and had their world server domain info, but Blizzard is being a dork about even telling me if realm X is located closer to me, or on the moon.
I'm a casual to raiding player when I can play. And until this divorce and custody crap is done, I cannot guarantee much more than showing someone else how to play so you guys can harp on the fact that a beautiful young lady playing WoW with an old fart like me.
I'll take any and all help I can get. Then, when I can get back into the game, I will work on coming back here and providing some feedback and helping continue the tradition of giving back to a community that gave to me, and helped me earn so much money in this game.
Bah, I'm at work and want to say so much, and seeing Cade and Red respond kind of gets me all choked up inside. I am sorry that I seem to have offended Dev, but hopefully he'll get over the fact that I'm really an ASS, but I'm loveable.
{EDIT}
Last night, I got an ip address of Spirestone. They are not responding to icmp traffic, so it times just after it gets to their server farm. I still requested for a pvp server near me in Ohio, so we'll see. They're evaluating some system data from my end. Now, and it took long enough, I have a direct connection through email to someone at their technical support.
Still, I'm open to suggestions for a new server for trasnfer.
