The RedGuides Updater

• Update your MQ2 files from the RedGuides MQ2 Compile zip file no more unzipping,
  cut and paste, or wondering what files were updated.
• Will not overwrite ini files only plugin .dll files and .mac files.
• Remembers your MQ2 folder location for next update.
• Copy MQ2 UI files to your EverQuest/UI folders with a few mouse clicks.
• Completely offline. No need to login or connect to the internet to use.

The RedGuides Updater requires Microsoft .Net Framework 4

• Download Here
• Install

First time or clean install

1. Create a new folder for your Macroquest2 files. Name and create the folder what/where ever you want.
   i.e. C:\Program files\Macroquest2

Instructions to Update MQ2 files

1. Shut down any instances of EverQuest or MacroQuest2 you may have running.
2. Download RGUpdate.exe at the bottom of this post, and save it somewhere you'll remember.
3. Open the RGUpdate.exe file
4. Select the path to where you downloaded the RedGuides MQ2 Compile zip file.
5. Select your Macroquest2 folder
6. Click the Update Button

Instructions to Copy MQ2 UI files to your EverQuest UI folder

1. Download the current RedGuides MQ2 Compile zip file.
2. Open the RGUpdate.exe file
3. Select the path to where you downloaded the RedGuides MQ2 Compile zip file.
4. Select the path to your EverQuest UI Default or Custom UI folder.
5. Click the Copy button

Instructions to select what plugins MQ2 will load

1. Click the Setting button in the lower left hand corner of the RGUpdater. See Illus #1
2. In the list click on checkmark box to select the the plugins you want to load when MQ2 starts. See Illus #2
3. Click the save button when finished to save your settings

Udates macros automatically
Warning for macro writers: All macros will be overwritten if they share the same name as one of our default macros. Consider using unique names for any macros you modify.

Troubleshooting

If you get an error about RGUpdate.exe not being able to "overwrite" make sure you put RGUpdate.exe OUTSIDE of your MQ2 folder. Place it on your desktop, or anywhere that's not your MQ2 Folder.

If you get this error,

System.IO.IOException: The file 'C:\Release\MQ2Main.dll.tmp' already exists.

or

System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Release\MQ2Main.dll.PendingOverwrite' is denied.

go to your MQ2 folder and rename/delete:

MQ2Main.dll.tmp
MQ2Main.dll.PendingOverwrite

(you may need to reboot in order to delete them)

Run again, and you should be all clear.

To stop this from happening in the future, make sure you close EQ, Macroquest2, WinEQ2, ISBoxer, and any other EQ-related program before running RGUpdate.

Note. IF YOU USE INTERNET EXPLORER TO DOWNLOAD OUR FILES IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY BLOCK CERTAIN FILE TYPES.

To fix it Right Click on the file and unblock it.

RGUpdate.exe 1.0.3

• Now works with new versions of the Very Vanilla Compile.
• Checks to make sure Macroquest2 isn't running when you hit update.

RGUpdate 1.1

• Fixed settings, will now remember your loaded plugins.
• Will continue to read old MacroQuest.ini files, and upon saving will update to the new format.

Notice: The attachment RGUpdate1.1.zip on this post (directly below) is out of date. Only download it if you want the old version that does *NOT* overwrite macros.

• A couple small fixes when detecting new directories.
