When I first started my journey with MQ it was so I could run a bard specifically for lockpicking to help my Mage get his epic.

It took less than a week before I was at three boxes driving with a newborn SK, BRD, and the already existing Mage.

Quickly got tired of that and decided when I jumped to test to build a full group. So I am now at SK, BRD, SHM, DRU, BST, and I've been messing with a WIZ in the mix just for fun.

I drive all the toons with my SK 99% of the time. I use mercs Lua to run all the boxes and it occurred to me I could set the SK to tank and my MA could be anyone right? Drive with the BST set as the MA but the SK in mercs and in my group as Tank and he would tank when the mob hits the engagement hp I have set.

So regardless of which automation used, how many out there are driving with a toon that is not the main tank?

i would say about 90% of the time i drive with the tank, in some rare cases i run with my shaman, just cause the tank is busy fighting.

I used to drive the cleric because that was the class I mained for years. then I switched to driving the Enchanter so i could charm. after adding charm to rgmercs Lua its been full drive the tank.

I drive with my bard or enchanter. My boxes are there to make playing my mains more viable and I have 0 interest in playing tanks or healers. It isn't all that tough to come up with creative hotkeys to make it a seamless experience. To add though, I also do not automate the toon I'm playing as a main in the group.

I lead with Rng, use harmony to single pull and MA off RNG as well works really good for me, I have a warrior tank that jumps out and grabs agro, so RNG usually never goes down

RNG 125
WAR 125
CLR 125
SHAM 125
WIZ 125
ENC 125

Hope that helped.

How do you chain pull without your puller being the MA?
why would you make your puller the MA ever? Not following that one at all. Tank is usually the MA, on occasion I will toggle it to my main via hotkey to get the group to swap targets, but it then gets toggled back to the tank. Making the puller the MA would slow my pulls down honestly, so I'm not sure where you're coming from there.

For modern live play, I personally almost never drive with anything else (unless necessitated by some mission achievement or other bizarre nonsense). It gives you an advantage in manually repositioning packs, pulling extra mobs to keep things going, etc. As I previously stated, I primarily use a hunt/roaming style of fighting, I find camp styles to be incredibly slow (and outdated with modern tool kits). I think with discussions like this, party setup, level range and environment (live, emu, etc) are important distinctions.

I pull with my SK almost exclusively. The class has lots of good options for pulls as well as tanking ability if we are using him as the MA

It is all about preference, which is fine. With that said driving with your non tank seems like your making it more difficult than it needs to be. People will say it not hard, but doesn't change the fact its allot easier with your tank.

Too add to this, a lot of it would be dependant on the quality of your automation settings. if you got solid KISS ini's or the proper settings in CWTN it would make either way a heck of a lot easier.

I Can't, I need to learn more about the MA, I try to make the warrior the MA, then I have to click the target with the tank and then back to RNG, then tank runs to that target, gets ugly, I am still tryn to figure out, how I make the tank MA, and the RNG PULLER, and so on, never been able to do it. Its probable totally easy too, and I just can't figure it out.

I made the tank MA, and was pulling with RNG, and the tank never grabed the mob, so I had to make RNG MA, to get group to attack

I like the bard. I invis and maneuver my group where I want to start killing, unpause all, set camp for tank, everyone in chase (all in same hotkey) and kill as needed. Then when done killing, hit pause all key, bard AA invis and click follow me in group window.. Sometimes I like to not pull extras so I pull using bard. Otherwise would be the SHD/tank.

check your assist range and make sure assist percent is 100 on the tank. It's likely something around those settings. I had issues with that way back when I first started using modbot years and years ago, and it does take a bit to figure it out. Also, make sure the ranger is marked puller and/or the settings are in whatever macro you're using. I know sometimes if the group roles aren't set, the macro won't function properly. The toggling I do to control things lately don't play well when I use modbot, but work fine if I'm using the class plugins for example. There's some nuance to each of the tools for certain.

im mostly on my bard trying pull enough to be able to nonstop kill. necro is set as MA and MT so its not the best but with my current group (bard, necro, mag, druid, enc, mage) it works amazing. real tank can handle more but seems pulls dont have enough in them to actually need a real tank in this expansion.

Ok Thanks
