Question - Would this PC run a 6 box (and maybe ISBoxer)? (1 Viewer)

I'm pretty sure it would, but loaded stuff on an old i5 laptop that couldn't handle 3 accounts.
Do you think this PC -

Beelink Mini PC, AMD Ryzen 5 5560U (6C/12T up to 4.0Ghz), 16G DDR4 500GB M.2 2280 NVMe SDD

Could run a 6 box, ISboxer and MQ?
Amazon product ASIN B09SHSQ5CF
Appreciate the input :)
Yes it will run about anything you want. I have a Ryzen 7 with something graphics card and 128 megs of RAM I run 7 instances of Mq EQ no problem.

I 18 box on a lenovo t420 laptop with 12 megs of ram…pretty sure you can do much more with that..

On what settings? My vRAM on my old GPU with 8gb vRAM -RX 5700- did not handle 12 toons at the same time at 1440P, vRAM usage was near its limit and sometime one game crashed.

In intense zones, if VRAM extended 8GB vRAM one Everquest window shut down.

Maybe if you run the game at 380P and old school look, one pixel.

Old models, turn framelimiter on, kill everything (spells, clip plane, sound, sky, fauna, textures, shadows, etc) .., minimize everything but your puller screen once sutomation is running, do the manual assigment of the cores “-1, -2, -3” on the ini file…last but not least stay away from lag pile and zone your groups via campfire to prevent multiple zone maps loading…get a worthwhile cooling pad and keep a window open…

Note: this level of overheating will eventually destroy this laptop but who cares its a 15 year old box…enjoy!

core are auto assigned and managed by windows. going in and adjusting that does nothing.

Definitely not a bad buy for the price. I run an OLD HP Mini with only 8gb of ram and a 256 SSD. I don't even run frame limiter, but turned the stickfigure option on in the eqclient.ini and I can run up to 10 toons at a time with up to 8 without loosing frames.

@Crypl yea...so how do you turn on stick figures? Still haven't figured that one out

What does Framelimiter do except limit the frames as we can do already in the game?

Main game window 120fps.
Background game windows 30fps.

I have a Ryzen 33 or 3400g, integrated everything. I think 8 or 10 (yeah I know) gigs of shared ram. As suggested above, frame limiter, textures, particle effects all turned off or down. I can run 5 instances fine, 6 a little Chunky potato. Your setup will do fine.

UseStickFigures=1 in your eqclient.ini
Wasn't it StickFigures=1 under the Defaults section? Or did you mean Use Stickfigures=1? :xd:

On another note, I tried looking into Beelink (and other similar minis) after seeing the OP. My laptop (Clevo 151SM1) is almost 12 years old and has no issues running EQ on good settings for one client. When I try to run 6 boxes, I turned as much as I could for 5 boxes off (except 2.0 pixel shaders, leave that on or it will offload processing from GPU to CPU) and leave good graphical settings for my main. This leads to 2-5 FPS inside cities like CR or PoK or when other players are around and 15-20 FPS outside when it's empty with only mobs. I've had to turn down my graphical settings and now 5-7 FPS inside cities or when 3-4+ other players are around and 15-30 FPS outside with mobs only.

Needless to say, would like to run EQ on high graphics and good performance.

Beelink and others seem to be really sketchy and I see reports that units run well within warranty then suddenly break down. I guess you get what you pay for. If it's just to run EQ it should be fine? You'll be taking a large gamble though.

I tried comparing the performance of these minis vs my laptop using that VS site and there was only a 30% boost. I think by biggest issue is that support for my GPU has long since expired. The textures, shadows, and gamma were all completely whack until I updated my GPU drivers (2013) to the last supported set (2019) and it made EQ look much better. Didn't really increase performance though.

The last thing I can come up with is just to turn off players/npcs/pets when I'm close to cities.

Edit: My laptop is also overheating when running 6 boxes and this isn't sustainable (and DO NOT want to replace my laptop as it's good for what it does). Probably a good reason to look for something to solely run EQ boxes...

The mini pc's are great for eq, love mine for when I travel. Just keep an eye on the temp, they tend to overheat and go kapow. Beelink is really nice though, they replaced the one I blew up.

Which Beelink did you get? I noticed you have to be extremely careful on Amazon as they tend to spam the site with the same units but different titles and varying prices.

I have two

Beelink SER5 Mini PC with AMD Ryzen 7 5800H(8C/16T, up to 4.4GHz) Mini Computer, 32GB DDR4 1TB NVMe SSD

Overkill for EQ even 12 boxing, but I like spell effects and current character models. I keep the top popped off and one of those little vornado fans you can get at wal-wart blowing cool air on them. No issues other than the one i blew up last summer when it was almost 90 degrees in my game room. I have a/c this year thank goodness.

You think the R5-5560U 16GB+500GB would be able to handle 6 boxing with max graphics on main? I saw that R5-5560U is just a renamed 4000 model (zen2 architecture) and 5800H uses the new zen3 architecture. It's more powerful but inefficient and generates a lot more heat.

You may think the R5-5560U is at a good price but seeing what you get, it's a major ripoff if you can get other units that use a newer chip for $20-$30 more.
