I thought that I might share the story as it can be called a 'strategy' of sorts :/.
I won't mention any names but there was the server migration open and a guildmate of mine, a sane, stable, "trustworthy" guildmate decided to borrow as much cash as he could before moving to a different server. During his final 24hrs on our server he asked many different people via whispers to borrow some cash for an epic and so on. He was a valued, longtime guild member so there were lots of people willing to help him. He asked each person individually and at different times of day. After filling his pockets, he disappeared to the new server, after creating a char with his own name on the new server (he got a free nickname change).
We tried to report him but GMs keep saying that it was our business and that they can't find chatlogs to check what he said (arrgh). There's still hope but I think he may well get away with that. I'm mentioning it only because of the cash he managed to grab: over 4600g. Holy shit? Yeah.
We've decided not to go public about it because it's so incredibly embarassing and we don't know the guy's new nick anyway.
