UNO was another one i grew up with.. no computers back then.. my grandmother taught me a ton of card games .. kanasta, rummy, then when we found it out, rummolli was a big hit.. did that one in high school a ton too.. what else do you do with that huge container of pennies you've been collecting for years!!

I forgot about that big container of pennies....a must for all card games growing up

Mine is just a little generic, but AD&D 2nd Edition, was what I bought and my brothers and I started playing together with me (the oldest) as the GM. While we did use the rule books and monster manuals, I also 'winged' it a lot for story creation and fun. Not as many 'deaths' to characters due to bad rolls. My younger brothers would sit entranced at the action and cringe after rolling as I look down behind my little wall of rules and monster mission scenario info, to see their excitement as I pull a 3x5 with some character that they knew meant was about to appear and interact with our little group of mains. I was a player AND the GM, so I tried not to give myself too much advantages and balanced out loot as it was just a good time for us. I started with some friends from middle school, but learned quickly I didn't like all the nonsense some wanted to do (which was wasting my fun time back then) like I wanna roll to eat an apple or a pear and see if I get diarreah, I'm gonna go have sex with the bar wench, I'm gonna throw my dagger at the sleeping Orc guard and see if I can hit it in the brain (ugh.. you know the roll ALWAYS turned out bad). It was a lot more enjoyable doing different monster voices, townspeople and "GM" voice for my little brothers.
