Can anyone point me in right direction, i have used eqbc for years and never had an issue connecting laptop to control other characters
I am new to dannet and trying to get working. It will connect the characters on the laptop or the desktop using the local 127.0.0.1 interface
But cannot connect together, neither desktop or laptop sees the other, /dnet interface just shows that computers ip and 127.0.0.1, not showing the ip of the other computer.
I have tried disabling firewall etc but no joy.
The network is nothing fancy, running standard router with 255.255.255.0 as the subnet

Any clues as to why, thanks for any input :)

127.0.0.1 is your computer, it is saying "connect home to myself"
check the instructions tab, there is a link on how to setup with your interface device

Thanks for the responce Sic, yeah i have tried doing those checks, they just dont want to see each other.
All i can get them to see is there own ip and the loopback ip with the /dnet interface, chars on each computer work fine set on the loopback interface, so dannet is working.
The desktop does show an extra ip on the interface selection, and have no idea on what that is (192.168.52.1) the laptop just shows its ip and loopback
I know its something stupid on my end, but cant seem to find it lol.

I will keep trying, but guess i will have to stick with eqbc for now

Just as a side note, i play emu only, doubt that will have any relevance with using rof2 client, just for info

Cheers

Hi All,
I have recently run into a problem. It shows the following symptoms:
- Using MQGrind today, my leader says 'Ready' and zones in, but the rest doesn't. When I type 'Ready' manually on all, they zone in, but don't do anything (no chase no nothing)
- Using BoxHUD, it only detects one toon, but not all of them
- Using the command /dgza taskquit, which worked fine a couple of months ago, does nothing to my other toons now.

I didn't change anything over the months (which may actually be the problem?). I have 'Launch EQBCS with MQ' checked as always, and EQBCS seems to register what I am doing.
Using /dnet info on the other hand gives me only 1 char back, not all 6 of them.

Appreciate your help.

Check the Dannet instructions tab.
You also need to ensure that eqgame.exe is allowed across your windows firewall (I had that popup yesterday on my win 11 laptop)

Hello!

I have had some success converting aliases/hotkeys over to DanNet. However, I am not able to get my key to configure the group roles to work. I simplified it to just perform 1 group role update, but no luck. The MQ window shows the text I would expect to see, but the command is never actually executed. Is it unique to /grouproles? Is there a special syntax for executing commands with multiple parameters? It is weird because I was able to convert my group invis to work, but it seems hung on /grouproles.

Simple example (Does NOT work):
/dex ${Group.Leader} /grouproles set ${Target.Name} 1

It resolves the TLOs just fine, but nothing is updated. This worked w/out any problem in EQBC (/bct instead of /dex). The key does more than just this (multiple group role sets, tells tank to start their macro, etc), just simplified it to see what is going on..

Invis alias converted to DanNet (Works!):
/alias /dggainvis /multiline ; /dgga /multiline | /stopsong | /stoptwist ; /alt act 1210 ; /dgge /multiline | /alt act 1212 | /alt act 280 ; /alt act 1212 ; /alt act 280 ; /timed 5 /dgga /multiline | /alt act 518 | /alt act 630 | /alt act 231

LoLoLoooooL

I zoned... tried it again... now it works :wtf:

Ahhhhhhh, not 100%. The command will not execute if you do it from the group leader. Run from any other box, role gets updated. Run from the group leader, MQ window things look ok, but it just does not execute the /grouproles command.

Ok, so any ideas on this one?

Works If NOT Group Leader:
/dex ${Group.Leader} /grouproles set ${Target.Name} 1

I am confused... why so many multilines? That is the whole point of multiline, so you can have additional /cmds etc in one hotkey line for instance.

Additionally, what are you trying to accomplish? The more I look at it, the more confused I am becoming.

If you want a hotkey for double invis, there is a whole thread, might even be Sic's Hotkey thread where tons of people have posted their version with casters, bards, etc etc.

probably documented somewhere, sorry i didnt RTFM first, but was in a hurry..i

If i am playing with a friend who is using plugin's and he is in a different location....is there a way to send him messages via the normal communication methods?

Dannet is a peer-to-peer system, so it sort of "autodiscovers" via broadcast packets.. this works great on the same LAN segment.. ie not passing through any routers..

It doesnt work so well when you and your friend are each at their own homes.. because it auto does stuff, you cant really specify your friend's location, and Dannet wont be able to see it..

EQBC would be able to, but with a fair bit of configuring, and whoever is running the EQBC server application would have to ensure external firewall ports are not blocked, allowing them access in, as well as the 'remote" person configuring their client to connect to that said server to communicate.. its like a relay server.. everyone sends through it..

lots of technical specifics to say, no dannet wont do it.. at least no way **I** know of!

This has probably been asked a dozen times b4, so sorry. Hopefully someone has a quick answer.

I just switched from Mozilla's VPN back to NordVPN, and now Dannet is not working.

I have split tunneling set up and all my EQ instances are excluded from the VPN. Is there something else I need to do?

Edit: My interface looks correct

You'll need to make sure nord is allowing local traffic

Sorry, I am not getting any notifications anyone responded. Anyway, onto the core of the question. How do I make this work on dannet if /dex does not work? The whole goal is to have one alias to use for the /grouproles command, executable by anyone on the group. No problems setting /grouproles on EQBC.

Invis works (and isn't the question) universally regardless of group configuration (99% of the time at any rate). One is for the "driver", another is for the "others" commanded by the "driver." I have used it for quite a while on EQBC. I can use it as a hotkey if I set one up or by typing the alias, and nothing to think about. I do not necessarily use the exact same group each time. That would be boring.

Still no luck.

I even switched split tunneling around, only protecting a few apps instead of excluding EQ.

I don't see any other related settings.

- EQbox chat works fine.
- Local servers on my computer like NZBGet work fine.
- I can see other network devices
- I can print

Already did a network flush. Can't think of anything else to try.

Would it be OK for you to have 2 lines in the hotbutton like
Grouprole:
/dex ${Group.Leader} /grouproles set ${Target.Name} 1
/grouproles set ${Target.Name} 1
If you are the leader, the second line will do the job, if not the first

So, you don't need a hotkey that sends a Dannet command for setting the group role as he would be the driver in most cases. It is always good practice IMHO to have your Main Tank as the driver toon. Much easier to deal with and control in the long run. Since you cannot /dex yourself, just have a hotkey for assigning that role.

I personally use makecrew for group makeups, or I invite them manually if I want to switch around personnel. The following is in ButtonMaster format, so bear with me:

INI:
[Button_27]
Cmd1=/invite SHMName
Cmd2=/timed 3 /invite BRDName
Cmd3=/timed 6 /invite BSTName
Cmd4=/timed 11 /invite BERName
Cmd5=/multiline ; /timed 15 /invite ROGName ; /timed 20 /grouproles set SHDName 1 ; /timed 30 /grouproles set SHDName 2
Label=Melee Create

This invites the toons I want with those names, and sets my SHD driver to MT/MA respectively. I do it this way because I am also finicky in how I like my group display in order coinciding with my switching hotkeys. Tanks are 1, healers 2, mezzers 3, dps 4-6. The hotkey is on the SHD, my driver toon.

Does this make sense?

All the people who've told me they've had issues with DanNet auto connecting their computers on their home network and I am stoked cause im setting up my 2nd pc and would be totally stoked if they autoconnected and started doing shit together out of the box... and the two wont even connect if i tell them to :P More troubleshooting to do....

Check out the instructions tab. A lot of time it ends up being either VPN or it ends up needing to be something where you change your interface device.

Here's, hopefully, a little help for anyone suffering from brain farts & Windows' Firewall settings. I have two computers, my main gaming computer and a workstation literally bought because I have an addiction and wanted to offload a full raid less driver(s). Due to Black Friday deals, I upgraded my main and decided to reinstall everything. Loading up EQ to check, my main group seemed to run fine from my tank, driver 1. I loaded up my kid's group and noted that the tank, driver 2, wasn't able to broadcast to his group.

After some head-scratching, I ran through Sic's troubleshooting guide, double checked the Interfaces and re-loaded all DanNet instances, but was left without an answer and driver 2 not being able to issue commands to his minions. Drivers are all on one computer and the related group characters are all on the second computer. With /dnet info, I could see:

Driver 1 could see Group 1 + Driver 2
Group 1 could see Group 1 + Group 2 except Driver 2
Driver 2 could see Driver 1
Group 2 could see all of Group 1 & 2 except Driver 1 & 2

After some NSFW language, I was prepared to hang my head and post a question on the forums.

This all sounded familiar. Maybe I forgot to correctly set up EQ on Windows Firewall when I reinstalled? Sure enough, I went into the allowed apps on both computers and enabled private network access for all of my EQ installations. That fixed it. So just in case you're like me and click without thinking in a rush to get into your game, remember there are variables outside of EQ and RG that may be causing you trouble. Like user error. And I didn't even have to disrupt Sic's game time with a forum post.
This was it -I was banging my head - like why.. and then like magic did that and everything is beautiful!

went into the allowed apps on both computers and enabled private network access for all of my EQ installations.

Since yesterday's patch I haven't been able to communicate group members that are on different machines. I mainly use Dannet and /dgga, /dgae, /dex etc have only been working on characters on the same machine not across my PC accounts to my Lap top accounts. Both are logged in under my launcher. I've never had this problem before. Any suggestions?

Check the instructions tab for mq2dannet

You probably need to adjust interface device, allow local traffic on VPN, or maybe even allow mq in your windows settings
